We are involved in the Herne Bay distribution branch of Canterbury Foodbank, providing emergency (three-day) food parcels to individuals and families in short term financial crisis across the Canterbury District. There are many ‘hidden hungry’ here in our affluent area - according to the latest child poverty statistics, there are over 4,000 children living in poverty in the Canterbury District, out of a total population of 135,000 people - that's one in seven children.
You can help us too, by collecting food in your school, business, church, club or organisation, or just at home. A yellow Canterbury Food Bank collecting bin is always at The Beacon Centre, and we also collect items at our Sunday gatherings. Click here for a shopping list.
